June 24, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m Fly Fishing Workshop with Orvis.

Saturday, June 24, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., River Center at Lockhouse 8, C&O Canal, Cabin John, Md. Park at Clara Barton Parkway Lock 8 Pullout. Learn the basics of the art of fly–fishing. Admission is free. An Orvis fly fishing instructor will provide participants the most effective tips for fishing success. Please bring your own equipment. Saturday, June 24, 1 – 2 p.m., River Center at Lockhouse 8, C&O Canal, Cabin John, Md. Park at Clara Barton Parkway Lock 8 Pullout. Hear stories from Christine Cerniglia, former president of the C&O Canal Association, and others who live near Lock 8 about what it was like to live and play by the canal and Potomac River in the early to mid-1900s. Sunday, June 25, 3 – 4 p.m., River Center at Lockhouse 8, C&O Canal, Cabin John, Md. Park at Clara Barton Parkway Lock 8 Pullout. Come learn about hand-made canoes and paddling on the Potomac with avid canoeist Jim Ross. Ross, who builds canoes by hand, will talk about using traditional methods in the art of canoe building and his first-hand experience of the best places to paddle.
